The mathematics department at South Sydney High School has a long-standing reputation for achieving excellent results in the Higher School Certificate.
These results are achieved by hard working students supported by experienced and enthusiastic teachers who are always willing to help and advise.
The curriculum offers the full range of course levels in each year to ensure that all students have the chance to be supported and extended by their studies.
Our teaching practice demonstrates the essential elements of the NSW Quality Teaching framework with emphasis on improved student learning and an opportunity for students to undertake extension activities to allow them to gain a deeper understanding of mathematical concepts.
Every year the more able students successfully study the demanding Extension 2 course, which starts in Term 4, Year 11.
Students across all years are also encouraged to enter the annual Australian Mathematics competition.
