The South Sydney High School Student Recognition System is one in which all students have the potential to be recognised for their achievements in any one or all of the following areas:
- academic performance
- civics and leadership
- performing arts
- sport.
There are four levels to the system in which students work towards achieving awards:
- Certificate of Commendation
- Certificate of Merit
- Certificate of Significant Achievement
- Principal's Award (bronze, silver, gold).
