The Adventurous Journeys are one of the most exciting and rewarding aspects of the Duke of Edinburgh Program, where the participants get to explore the outdoors and camp overnight.
Students will undergo training in navigation and map reading, first aid, nutrition and equipment use prior to the hike.
The training expedition will be carried out during Term 2.
The qualifying expedition will be carried out during Terms 3 or 4.
Participants must ensure that they have all of the correct equipment (as per the list they are provided from their award leaders).
South Sydney High School also has a bank of equipment such as tents, backpacks and stovesĀ for students to borrow if needed.
